Bio
I use photography as a tool of exploring the relationships I develop with the people and places that I take interest in.
Formally trained, I possess my BFA in Photography, with an emphasis in Documentary, from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. I am most notably recognized for my project “Built of Jade,” which asks the remaining former detainees of the Angel Island Immigration Station to reflect upon their past experiences migrating to America between 1910 and 1940. In addition to having this work published and sponsored by the Angel Island Immigration Station Foundation, I have also had my work published by magazines like Photographer’s Forum and PDN, as well as exhibiting in places like the Atelier Gallery in San Francisco. I was recently awarded as the winner of PDN’s Emerging Photographer Spring 2019 contest for a series of images from “Built of Jade.”
In addition to working on my personal projects, I also work as a printer, pursuing my dual passion which lies within modern digital printing techniques.
